When families learn the emotional skills to respond to each other instead of react, stress lowers, behaviour improves and connection grows.
Is your family stuck in a reactivity cycle?
Here are 3 programs we offer to help you out.
The Emotionally Aware Child (4-Week Cohort)
The Emotionally Aware Teen (6-Week Cohort)
The Emotionally Aware Parent (8-Week Cohort)
Healthier, calmer interactions in your home starts with stronger emotional coping skills.
You don’t need another parenting strategy. Your child doesn’t necessarily need therapy for their behaviour.
Your family needs emotional skills and conflict management skills that help each of you better handle your emotions during hard interactions.
Most parents were never taught these skills. As a result, we often react automatically and our children learn to do the same. But you CAN break this cycle if you and your child learn these important skills!
Help your family build skills that build a healthier home environment.
Each of our programs is built around the same core skills: self-awareness, emotional regulation, stronger inner dialogue, and healthier communication. The activities and examples are adapted for children, teens, and parents so each program feels relevant and practical.
Pillar 1: Self-awareness – Notice what you feel, what triggers you, and how stress shows up in your body and mind.
Pillar 2: Emotional regulation – Learn practical ways to calm your nervous system, reduce reactivity, and respond more effectively when emotions run high.
Pillar 3: Inner dialogue – Notice unhelpful self-talk, build a stronger inner voice, and use thoughts that support steadier responses.
Pillar 4: Conflict and communication – Learn how to express needs, listen better, repair after conflict, and communicate in ways that reduce escalation.
Pillar 5: Connection and repair – Learn how healthy relationships are built through calm moments, but also through recovery after hard ones.
Meet your instructor
For years, I’ve worked with parents who desperately wanted to stay calm but found themselves reacting in ways they didn’t recognize. What I discovered is that most people don’t need more parenting advice.
They need a better understanding of what happens inside them before it shapes how they communicate with others.
That’s why I created Curious Neuron, to translate neuroscience into practical skills that help people manage stress, navigate conflict, and build healthier relationships.
I look forward to helping your family build the same skills.
Where are you on your mountain?
Emotional awareness is the first step to better managing stress, emotions and conflict (Lam et al. 2020). When you become Emotionally Aware, you learn how to recognize your dysregulation states (see image) before they have a negative impact on your interaction with another person.
Can you answer yes to EACH of the questions below?
Imagine what could change when everyone learns these skills...
Less yelling and fewer emotional outbursts
More respectful conversations during conflict
Stronger, more connected family relationships

Why our programs work…
✔At Curious Neuron, we know that emotional skills don’t develop the same way at every age.
✔The way a 7-year-old learns to recognize emotions is very different from how a teenager learns to manage stress—or how a parent learns to pause before reacting.
✔That’s why every Curious Neuron program is designed around the developmental stage of the people we’re teaching. Rather than using the same strategies for everyone, we combine neuroscience with age-appropriate learning experiences that help children, teens, and parents build emotional skills in ways that make sense for them.
Differences Emotionally Aware Parents are Noticing
A study found that emotion skills change everything
Research shows that when parents learn emotion regulation skills, children often have fewer behaviour problems and handle big feelings better. That means these skills can help your child feel calmer, connect better, and do better at home and school. (Zahl-Olsen et al. 2023)

Frequently asked questions
At Curious Neuron, we often receive questions about our cohorts.
Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we get.
Are the live weekly sessions recorded for kids and adults?
Curious Neuron is parent-centered, but we are not just another parenting advice hub. Our focus is on emotion regulation skills for both you and your child.
For the adult cohorts, yes. But only the part of the conversation where it is educational. The recordings are turned off when it is time to reflect together and share personal stories.
For the child or teen cohorts, no. We want to maintain the privacy of youth.
I am a new parent, is it too early to join a cohort?
Not at all! In fact, it is the perfect time to start understanding how you cope with your emotions and how you show up in hard interactions with your partner. There are skills we never learned!
Can I offer this cohort as a gift to someone?
Yes! Email our founder, Cindy Hovington at info@curiousneuron.com and you can purchase our course, or cohorts for kids, teens or parents and offer it as a gift.
Is it true that you also have a book club?
Yes we do!
If you love listening to our podcast, The Reflective Parenting Podcast then you will love following along in our private book club.

Do I need to share my personal thoughts in the cohorts?
We don’t force you to do what you are not comfortable doing in our live sessions. You can leave your camera off if you prefer.
However, there is a benefit to participating and reflecting. You can type your responses, you can talk without having your camera on.
This can help our instructor to get to know you and help you connect with other parents (which is a very powerful tool when you feel less alone)
What does CRM mean?
CRM stands for Content Relationship Management. Using a CRM platform gives everyone involved in your business a way to manage customer interactions to increase growth.
Is it really free to start?
Yes! You can opt to stay within the free tier for as long as you want to. It’s a great way to get a feel for the platform before deciding to upgrade to take advantage of the more advanced features.
Can I import data?
Yes! Getting your existing data in is easy. Simply export your existing customers to a .csv file and import them within a couple of clicks.
